Geneva 2013: The New Peugeot 2008
PEUGEOT are tapping in to the growing compact crossover segment of the market, introducing a sophisticated vehicle with a contemporary design. The new Peugeot 2008 incorporates a low-emissions engine and the French-based manufacturer hopes to target young city-dwellers who 'love the urban environment but also enjoy escaping from it at every opportunity', perfect for yuppies and their friends.

Building on the popular success of the Peugeot 208 supermini, the Peugeot 2008 is set for its world debut in road-ready production trim, with dealers taking orders for the car from May.
When the Peugeot 208 came to the UK last year, in excess of 20,000 orders were made in the first six months since it was released. Peugeot anticipates it will exceed this number with a car that can achieve a whopping fuel economy of 61.8mpg and CO2 emissions below 100g/km on at least two models.

Built in Mulhouse, France, it is the first vehicle from Peugeot to have been designed, engineered and developed simultaneously in Europe, China and Latin America.
"Creating the 2008 was a great challenge but we had a very precise idea of the vehicle that we wanted to offer customers," explained Eric Dejou, Design Manager for the Peugeot 2008. "The style brought to life in an early phase did not require any major modifications up until production. The very first sketch was perfect."

The grille is cut from a solid block of metal and set upright to create what Dejou describes as 'powerful and dominant' in its design. The headlamps look at you like an owl's eyes while its elegant looks are enhanced by practicality with roof bars, enabling cyclists transport their equipment with ease.
Despite being well elevated, a clear sign of its superiority in the entire Peugeot range, the boot is just two feet from the ground, allowing dogs to jump in and out with ease. One does not need to be tall to own this machine, with its black bumpers and stainless steel front and rear scuff plates shaping its jaw line.
INTERIOR
Agnes Tesson Faget, 2008 Product Project Manager, said: "We wanted to create an exceptional on board space for our customers which takes care of all the occupants and offers them new sensations. The unique ergonomics of the instruments and controls, the careful choice of materials, the quality of assembly, the light ambience... the 2008 stimulates the senses."
Spacious with room for pets and swinging legs, the Peugeot 2008 is perfect for mischievous road trips. Folding the rear seats increases storage space from an 360 litres to an impressive 1,194 litres, with 22 of those under the floor - making perfect hiding places for those presents you do not wish your partner to find.

INNOVATION
Seen on the 3008, a new and patented Grip Control System is said to optimise traction in low-grip conditions. It adapts to the terrain by acting on the front wheels, with the driver staying in full control. The driver can switch from Standard to Snow, Off-Road and Sand modes.
He or she has the option to turn off Electronic Stability Control (ESC), disabling traction control, useful if the vehicle is stuck in snow, mud or sand.

DO YOU HAVE TROUBLE PARKING IN A TIGHT SPACE?
And for those who may have trouble parking, the Park Assist mode uses ultrasound to measure and empty space, with the 2008 taking control of the steering to position the vehicle perfectly - leaving the driver to control its movement, brakes, gears and clutch.
SAFETY
Cruise control is accompanied by Anti-Skid Regulation, Stability Control, Emergency Braking Assistance, Emergency Braking Assistance, Electronic Brake Force Distribution, and Isofix mountings for child seats in the rear.
