Icona Vulcano causes an eruption at Shanghai Motor Show (Auto Shanghai)
The Icona Vulcano – a new Chinese supercar with a £1.7m price tag.
If you are seeking a truly unique supercar, you could soon be heating up your town with the Vulcano.
As the first model to come from Icona, started in 2010, it has primarily been created to market the firm’s services, with more cars set to be designed and released over the coming years.
And while the wealthy buyer can order more than one example, it will not be sold to various buyers.
One model is the Vulcano H-Turismo. At 790hp, the V12 engine pumps out a generous sound, but is quietened with the help of a 160hp electric motor and automatic transmission. It truly is a hybrid supercar.
There is a 550hp version with the same electric motor too – but powering the front wheels, effectively making it a four-wheel drive.
It is capable of reaching 62mph in three seconds and if given the opportunity to reach its full potential, will take its driver to 217mph.
And if you are distrustful of new brands and new cars, you are in safe hands. Styled by Samuel Chaffart, the powertrains have been offered by Claudio Lombardi – former technical director for the Ferrari Formula 1 team.
Some may think it is simply another supercar, and yes, in many ways it is, but it is a beautifully styled one and is unique in its aesthetics.
