Toyota GT86 TRD to become a collector's item
WITH a limited run of 250 available for the UK, the Toyota GT86 has had a makeover which could make it a collector's item within a decade. The superfast Toyota GT86 TRD (Toyota Racing Development), on sale from March 1, will create a new halo model for the 2+2 coupe range, with both six-speed manual and automatic versions available, in a choice of two colours: Pearl White and GT86 Black.
The GT86 has had a £6,500 makeover to create the GT86 TRD, with the help of Toyota Racing Development. The focus is on sports styling, but not at the cost of GT86's essential performance and handling character, according to Toyota.
It includes 18-inch cast TF6 alloy wheels, deep front and side skirts, a rear bumper spoiler and a fast-response quad-exhaust system with a rear diffuser to increase stability. A restyled radiator cap and fuel filler cover is accompanied inside by a new TRD gear shift lever.
These items are all in addition to GT86's established equipment specification, which includes HID headlamps, front fog lamps, limited slip differential, Smart Entry and Start, dual-zone climate control, analogue dials and meters, drilled aluminium pedals, sports seats, scuff plates, cruise control and the Toyota Touch multimedia system.
From 0 to 62mph in just 7.7 seconds, the manual model will reach up to 140mph, while the automatic will be slower at both acceleration and top speed: 8.4 seconds and 130mph.

There are a few changes in fuel consumption and emissions: 192g/km and 34.9mpg for the manual and 181g/km and 36.2mpg for the automatic.
For any UK-based Toyota fans, it'll set you back £31,495 for the manual and £32,995 for the much slower automatic.
