Tottenham’s Clint Dempsey set to celebrate return to homeland with new Nissan 370Z
Clint Dempsey helped propel Fulham to a Europa League final before winning Premiership Player of the Season and being signed by Spurs for £6.6m.
For nearly £6m, the 30-year-old is to return to the United States where he will play for Seattle Sounders FC. Having scored 12 goals in 43 appearances for the North London club, Dempsey first made a name for himself when he impressed at New England Revolution, before making the trip across the ocean to join Fulham.
Having confirmed the deal, Seattle Sounders majority owner Joe Roth said: “This is a historic day for Sounders FC and our fans. Clint is a world-class soccer player who can take this club to a higher level.”
He played a critical role in Spurs’ win against Stoke City when he scored one goal and assisted another in a 2-1 away win last season. He also scored the only goal in a draw with Manchester United at home, while scoring an away goal against the champions at Old Trafford – in a 3-2 win for Spurs.
With Spurs bringing in talented players from across the world, it seems there is now little need for Dempsey, who may feel more at home in Seattle.
As the United States captain heads home, it is expected that he will celebrate by purchasing a new car, one that’s not too exotic but with enough of the ‘cool’ factor to be able to drive around Seattle and show off his bling.
