Nationwide car restoration competition launched

A nationwide competition has been launched to unearth the best classic car restoration projects in the UK.
Entrants have the opportunity to win an exclusive VIP package to this year’s Classic Motor Show when it returns to Birmingham’s NEC from Friday 15 to Sunday, November 17 2013.
The VIP prize includes two VIP tickets to the 2013 Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show, a night’s stay in a luxury hotel with dinner, free VIP parking and the chance to meet the stars of the live stage including TV’s Wheeler Dealers Mike Brewer and Edd China.
The winners’ photos and stories will feature on Lancaster’s restoration-themed stand at the Classic Motor Show. Runners up will also receive two tickets to the show.
Classic car owners are asked to email ‘before and after’ photos of their restoration project to marketing@lancasterinsurance.co.uk before September 22, 2013, along with an explanation of the project or vehicle history (in no more 200 words) or a short video (maximum three minutes long). They will also need to supply contact details for the purpose of receiving updates about the competition and to find out whether they have been successful.
Mike Edgeley, managing director, Lancaster Insurance, said: “Private restoration projects, which breathe new life into beautiful and historic classic cars across the UK, are key to securing the longevity of some of motor engineering’s triumphs. We wanted to give classic owners the opportunity to share their restoration journeys with us and the rest of the UK and the Classic Motor Show will be the perfect place for us to showcase all their hard work. We’re looking forward to receiving what I am sure will be some fascinating competition entries.”
Winners will be announced in the run-up to the Classic Motor Show in November 2013. There will be one winner from each era (50s/60s/70s/80s) and one overall winner from these finalists. The four individual winners will be selected by Lancaster Insurance, Clarion Events and Kelsey Publishing and the overall winner will be selected via a poll held on the Lancaster Facebook page from September 25 to October 1 2013. Winners will be notified via a telephone call or email.
